CARING FOR THE COMMUNITY
The year 2020 has been filled with sadness and uncertainty. COVID-19 also brought numerous challenges. In spite of this, we have witnessed acts of heroism, bravery, resilience and optimism. We at People With A Purpose are doing our part to spread hope to help our neighbors who are less fortunate.
Our ” Caring For The Community” project is aimed at providing much needed supplies to members of our community who are currently homeless and living on the streets. PWAP volunteers packaged together care bags for the needy containing warm blankets, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, toiletries, snacks, masks and hand sanitizers.
Margaret Mead said, “Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”
JANUARY 2020
HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
Even though the Christmas Holiday was over, PWAP volunteers started 2020 by continuing to spread Holiday Cheer by donating new books, toys and toiletries to a few needy families in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn who were affected by fires and living in the NYC Shelter System.
Even some of our youngest PWAP volunteers were happy to share the joy!

SUPER STORM SANDY
We all were all heartbroken over the devastating effects that Super Storm Sandy caused for some of our NYC residents. On December 14, 2012, PWAP volunteers did their part in spreading Holiday cheer by partnering with students from the St. Francis College in collecting toys and stuffed animals to distribute to the children affected by the storm just in time for Christmas.
JUNE/ JULY 2012
PROJECT EARLY READERS
During the months of June and July 2012 PWAP promoted a reading initiative called: “Early Readers Makes Tomorrow’s Leaders” designed to develop a love and interest in reading in infants and toddlers. PWAP donated over 100 new books to five Brooklyn Day care centers for distribution to their children. The goal of this initiative was to help parents, teachers and caregivers see the importance of reading to youth at an early age and encourage an appreciation and love for reading. Kudos to the five Brooklyn Daycare providers who participated in this project: Marcia’s Family Daycare; Charlie’s Little Angels Daycare; First Steps Group Daycare; Unique Gems Group Daycare; Yes We Can Daycare .
